Totsuka high school had their school matsuri festival (called gakusai or bunkasai 学祭、文化祭), with this pretty “washi” papered entrance prepared especially for the day. Kids put on skits and do activities all day, and it’s attended by alums, parents, teachers, friends. The ones our girls did at their school were always a lot of fun. The character you can see on the gate looks like “wa” (和), or peace/harmony. It’s kind of meta, with the right part of the character morphing into a circle, also a symbol for harmony and togetherness. #hope
